Velte Publishing consists of a small group of very dedicated people who love writing about desktop, server, network, and security technology. We’re located in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, USA).
We started our book-writing adventure back in 1998 when Windows NT was the hot new operating system. It wasn’t long before we were writing about Windows 2000. About the same time, it was clear that Cisco was starting to dominate the networking arena, and so was born our Cisco Beginners Guide. Over the years the Cisco Beginners Guide has been through three additional refreshes and is now currently in the fourth edition. Along the way, there were books on Optical Networking, Windows XP and Vista, eCommerce, Smart Home Technology, and a Wireless Networking Guide we did for Cisco Press.
A few years ago we started going down the path of identifying and writing about ways we could use information systems technology in a more strategic manner, while still sticking to our roots of demystifying the technical complexities. The book, “Green IT”, was the first fruit of that labor of love. Writing it was one of the most enjoyable experiences we’ve had in the publishing business. We talked to pundits, interviewed technology leaders, and consorted with University Professors - it was an entertaining and educational experience that opened our eyes to a new way of writing. We embraced the same process when writing the Cloud Computing book. We spoke and corresponded with technology leaders across the Cloud Computing landscape. We shared ideas and vision with Fortune 500 leaders, and received amazing feedback and valuable insight into the direction business is headed with Cloud Computing. We’re very proud of the results.
Now our books are distributed and published nationally and internationally by McGraw-Hill in more than a dozen languages. They are available at many bookstores and are also available online at amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, borders.com, and other online bookstores throughout the world. The best part of that is receiving emails from people around the world, and learning about how they’ve used one of our books to accomplish something challenging.
As for our latest books...the book ”Green IT: Reduce Your Information System's Environmental Impact While Adding to the Bottom Line" has been exceptionally popular around the globe and is being used for several college courses centered around Green Tech and Designing, Building, and Operating Green Information Systems. Head over to www.GreenITinfo.com to learn more.
The book, “Cloud Computing: A Practical Approach”, has seen similar adoption by several schools that are building courses around the emerging field of Cloud Computing. In addition to being focused on IT Security, we spend a lot of our time on both Green IT and Cloud Computing.
After all these years and currently 13 books and 16 book projects, we are more excited and energized than ever. These are amazing times and humanity’s use of, and dependence on technology, is growing exponentially. We are humbled to be a part of it and excited about the future.
